SAN FRANCISCO – We just got word today that Vallejo's Federal Terrace Elementary School is currently in first place for the USAgain Earth Month Contest. USAgain, a for-profit company that resells used clothing and textiles in the US and abroad, is challenging schools across the country to collect as many pounds of used clothing as possible during April, Earth Month. At the end of the contest on, April 30 , the three schools which collect the most textiles and clothing per student will be ranked and awarded special cash prizes. (All participating schools will earn cash based on pounds of clothes and shoes collected.)

As of this writing, Federal has amassed 1005 lbs of used clothing. It's interesting to note that six of the top ten schools in the running are based in Stockton and their used clothing supplies range from 715 to 862lbs. Currently Vallejo High School is in 18th place with 566 lbs and Vallejo's Solano Middle School placing in 24th place with 533 lbs. All these placings are subject to change since there are 10 more contest days remaining.
