ATLANTA, Ga. (November 2, 2011) - USAgain, the company that helps divert millions of pounds of clothing and textiles from landfills each year, today announces a new partnership with Speedemissions in Atlanta. Speedemissions (a publicly traded company: SPMI) provides vehicle emission and safety inspection tests at 38 locations in Georgia, Missouri, Texas & Utah.
Speedemissions will host USAgain's green and white textile collection bins at 11 of its 14 Atlanta stores. Members of the community can deposit unwanted clothing, shoes and other textiles in the drop boxes 24 hours a day.
"We are encouraged by our partnership with USAgain to be able to collect unwanted clothing that can be reused and recycled," Rich Parlontieri, CEO of Speedemissions said. "It takes our business a step ahead in greening the planet, while continuing to help keep our air clean."
The drop-boxes are monitored and emptied weekly, or more as needed. USAgain, a green for-profit company based in Chicago, compensates Speedemissions for every pound of clothing collected. The compensation will be used for funding green programs or donated to a charity of Speedemissions' choice.
"We are thrilled to partner with Speedemissions. Supporting local businesses is a priority for us, and with 12.7 million tons of textiles being discarded in this country each year, we need more places for residents to easily dispose of unwanted clothing and shoes," said Mattias Wallander, CEO of USAgain.
