Willowbrook School Principal Jill Weininger recently announced that together with the USAgain program, Willowbrook families and staff collected 494 pounds of clothing and shoes this year. USAgain is a green for-profit enterprise that collects used clothes and resells them worldwide to conserve precious resources and greenhouse gases. The company provides thousands of locations across the U.S. where people can drop of gently use clothes and shoes year round. The items are then given a second life at affordable prices for people who can't afford new clothes.
"Thank you to all of the families who donated clothes and shoes at Willowbrook's USAgain box. This effort saved 2.82 square yards of landfill space, and prevented 3,458 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions form entering the atmosphere. Thank you for making the eco-conscious commitment to promote textile recycling and environmental stewardship in our community," stated Principal Jill Weininger.
