Bolingbrook residents wanting to recycle textiles now have three convenient locations to drop off items free of charge, as part of a recycling initiative just announced by the Forest Preserve District of Will County.
The forest preserve recently entered an agreement with USAgain to provide 21 textile recycling bins at 18 locations throughout Will County - three of them in, or close to, Bolingbrook.
Bins have been placed at: Veterans Woods, Joliet Road just east of Ill. Route 53 in Bolingbrook; Whalon Lake, Royce Road, just east of Washington Street, Naperville; and Isle a la Cache Museum, 135th Street east of Ill. Route 53 in Romeoville.
Each collection bin can hold up to 500 pounds of clothing, shoes and other textile products.
USAgain will schedule pick ups to meet demand.
Only 5 percent of donated items are deemed unusable and discarded, forest preserve officials said.
