Chicago, IL. - May 25, 2011 - USAgain announces today the winners of its annual Earth Month Contest to benefit schools. USAgain, a company that helps divert millions of pounds of clothing and textiles from landfills for reuse and recycling, challenged schools to collect clothing, shoes and textiles during the month of April as a part of their Earth Month contest. The top three schools that collected the highest number of pounds were awarded cash prizes of $500, $300 and $250 each.
The winners this year are:
• First Place: Federal Terrace Elementary - Vallejo, CA
• Second Place: Lockport High School - Lockport, IL

354 schools participated across the U.S. collecting a total of 155,500 pounds of clothing and textiles. All participating schools will be sent a Certificate of Sustainability to honor their commitment to the environment. "We are proud to support schools across the country as part of the Earth Month Contest. Educating the next generation about the importance of recycling is essential to the health of our planet," said Mattias Wallander, CEO of USAgain.
