The 2025 Earth Month Challenge Results Are In: Nearly 200,000 Pounds Collected by Participating Schools!

Tue June 3, 2025

Celebrating sustainability, school spirit, and serious impact for the planet.

1st Place St. Genevieve School with TreeMachine

The 2025 Earth Month Challenge, hosted by USAgain, has officially wrapped and the results are nothing short of incredible. Over a one-month period from March 15 to April 15, 111 participating schools across the U.S. came together in a friendly competition to collect the most clothing and shoes through their on-campus TreeMachine.

The final tally? A massive 199,649 pounds of clothing and shoes were collected. These materials were kept out of landfills and given a second life through reuse. Just in time for Earth Day on April 22, USAgain proudly announced the top 10 winning schools, with three schools rising to the top as sustainability champions.

Top 3 Winning Schools of the 2025 Earth Month Challenge

Each of these schools demonstrated tremendous leadership, engaging their students, families, and local communities to make an environmental impact while promoting the power of reuse.

Environmental Impact by the Numbers

Thanks to the dedication of the 111 schools who participated, the collective effort resulted in:

  • 199,649 lbs. of clothing and shoes collected
  • 3,993 people clothed
  • 479 million gallons of water saved (equal to the annual water use of 3,282 homes)
  • 1,141 cubic yards of landfill waste avoided
  • 2,994,735 lbs. of COâ‚‚ saved (equivalent to taking 289 cars off the road for a year)
  • 499 trees planted

These results highlight the profound environmental benefits of textile reuse and underscore the importance of building a culture of circularity at the school level.
