USAgain Teams up with the City of Santa Monica for Textile Recycling

Residents can Recycle Textiles at August 18 City Event

Santa Monica, CA - (August 8, 2012) - Today USAgain, a leader in the textile recycling industry, announced a partnership with the City of Santa Monica to provide textile collection at city recycling events. Members of the community can conveniently discard clothing, shoes, and textiles for reuse and recycling at USAgain stations at the nextevent, Saturday, August 18 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

"Textile recycling is a huge issue in this country; according to the EPA, Americans discard approximately 13.1 million tons of textiles annually. Only 15% of that is collected for reuse and recycling - leaving 11.2 million tons of textiles to be dumped in our nation's landfills," said Mattias Wallander, CEO of USAgain. "We're thrilled to partner with Santa Monica to raise awareness about the need for increased textile recycling in the community."

The City of Santa Monica is having their next collection event on August 18, 2012 at the City Yards, 2500 Michigan Ave, Santa Monica. Residents will have the opportunity to recycle all their surplus clothing, shoes, towels, bedding and other textiles. They can also learn how to construct no-sew t-shirt bags perfect for shopping at the Farmer's Market.
