SIU-E collects over 800 pounds of clothing at move-out event

EDWARDSVILLE, IL - Connecting with local schools is a big part of what we do at USAgain, and this holds true for institutions of higher education, not just elementary, middle and high schools. Our St. Louis Division was proud to help with Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville’s move-out event by collecting surplus clothing from students moving out of residence halls.

By partnering with SIU-E, we were able to divert over 800 pounds of clothing from landfills. We also placed four USAgain bins around the SIU-E campus, giving students and staff a long-term solution for every time they come across a t-shirt or pair of shorts they no longer want.

We’ve found that many students recognize the need to recycle items such as glass, paper and plastic, but they’re unaware of how vital it is to recycle clothing and textiles, too. We applaud SIU-E for giving their students this opportunity to easily recycle unwanted clothing—and to lighten their move-out load in the process

Stay tuned for upcoming stories on move-out collection events at other area universities, including Saint Louis University! Thanks for partnering with USAgain to keep the university beautiful, SIU-E!
