USAgain patron recovers lost keys from USAgain collection bin

At USAgain, we work hard to meet the needs and expectations of our patrons. That’s why when we heard patron Carolyn C. accidentally dropped her keys in a collection bin along with a clothing contribution, we were quick to react.

Carolyn, a programmer analyst for the State of Illinois, and her husband searched for convenience and benefit in dropping off their old clothing and shoes to be reused or recycled. 

“My husband chose the USAgain box due to its easy access and location,” said Carolyn.  “I had never actually heard of [USAgain] before.”

Originally, Carolyn had intended to trash her old red coat and threw it in with the morning’s garbage. In a change of heart and a last-minute rush to rescue the coat from the garbage can and the approaching garbage truck, Carolyn placed her keys into one of the coat’s pockets as she walked back inside her home. 

“My husband was preparing to take the bag of clothes to the donation box and I told him to put the red coat in the bag, too, not realizing that my keys were still in the coat’s pocket,” said Carolyn. 

Her husband unknowingly dropped-off the clothes and keys into a local USAgain collection bin. 

“We desperately needed to get the keys back,” said Carolyn.

After receiving word of the incident from Carolyn and her husband via email and a phone call, USAgain contacted them to set-up a date and time for the keys to be recovered.

“I’m very satisfied with the extremely prompt response from USAgain and the excellent service that were were given,” said Carolyn. “I hope that our items are made available to the needy and a very affordable price.”
