The transfer station hosts Alameda County's newest Permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Reuse Facility and is open to all residents of Alameda County.

In 2010 the Fremont Recycling & Transfer Station became Alameda County's first and only solar powered Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
