People all over the world depend on used clothes to dress their families.
Even today, with reality TV shows displaying the absurd abundance of a select few, 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 per day (the US poverty level), and nearly half the world's population lives on less than $2 per day (the poverty level in many less developed countries). Poverty refers to the condition of not having the means to afford basic human needs such as clean water, nutrition, health care, education, clothing and shelter1.
Buying used clothes is not just an eco-friendly choice and a smart decision, for many people it is their only option.
USAgain resells the discarded clothes we collect to places where there is a great need for these items, supporting the local and global economy in the process.
By exporting textiles to struggling countries we generate revenue, create green jobs here in the US and abroad, and help to improve the well-being of people in America and around the world.
