Picasso Preschool in El Granada, CA, won first place in the USAgain's nationwide Earth Month Contest for the "most pounds collected per student" category. Competing against over 500 other schools across the country collecting textiles in an effort to reduce landfill waste, Picasso Preschool collected over 2,000 pounds of clothing, shoes and other textiles during the month of April 2012!
"We've had a great experience with it USAgain's school fundraiser," said Candise D'Acquisto, Director at Picasso Preschool. "People from all over the community have been able to bring clothes and shoes that they no longer need."
Since partnering with USAgain, Picasso Preschool has collected 31,008 pounds of textiles, saving 43,411,200 gallons of water, preventing the emission of 215,056 pounds of CO2, and freeing 176 cubic yards of landfill space.
