Clothing Recycler USAgain Applauds Kankakee Residents for Support of Nepal Earthquake Victims

USAgain collects 1,800 pounds of textiles and donates funds to the American Red Cross

KANKAKEE, IL (July 1, 2015) USAgain (pronounced use-again) will donate $360 to the disaster relief organization American Red Cross to help support victims of the Nepal Earthquakes.

USAgain hosted a clothing collection drive from June 1st - June 13th at its Kankakee Drop Spot location at 1250 N. Hobbie Ave. A total of 1,800 pounds of surplus clothing and household textiles were collected during the time period of the drive.

"We appreciate the generosity of the individuals, families and businesses of Kankakee and their participation in the clothing drive," said Mattias Wallander, CEO of USAgain. "As a result of these efforts, USAgain will donate much-needed funds to the thousands of victims affected by the earthquakes in Nepal. In addition, Kankakee residents have also benefited the environment by keeping unwanted clothing out of landfill."

The funds donated by USAgain to the American Red Cross will go to the most critical districts in Nepal stricken by the recent earthquake disasters, providing support for things such as additional emergency shelter materials, medical supplies, safe drinking water, improved sanitation and hygiene kits.

USAgain's mission is to reduce the negative impacts of clothes and shoes on our environment by increasing their reuse and recycling. USAgain gives a new life to discarded clothing by putting them back into the use stream as second-hand clothing. Clothes that are not in condition to be re-worn are shredded to make new materials like insulation for homes or to reclaim fiber to make new fabric.
