Since 1997, communities across the country have come together on November 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day. More than a celebration, America Recycles Day is a nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling in the United States. One day to educate and motivate. One day to get our neighbors, friends and community leaders excited about what be accomplished when we all work together. One day to make recycling bigger and better, 365 days per year. Get involved!
The contest is a fun and educational way to raise textile recycling awareness and earn cash for schools. From November 1 through November 30 schools are invited to host a USAgain collection bin where students, parents, faculty and community members can drop off gently used clothing and other textiles. At the end of the contest, the three schools which collect the most textiles and clothing per student will be ranked and awarded cash prizes of $500, $300 and $250 respectively. All participating schools will earn cash based on pounds of clothes and shoes collected. The contest will be taking place at schools in Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Colorado, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Washington and California. The schools will be recognized for their environmental stewardship through USAgain's website, YouTube channel, Facebook page and Twitter profile.
This competition begins November 1 and ends November 30, 2011.
The last day for registration is October 28th, 2011.
